    Talking Illustrator vs Photoshop

    Hello all..

ive been working for long in photoshop and designed images all years long. but now ive realized that if the image is for larger prinitng purposes, then it needs to be vectors and for that you need Illustrator...let me know what do i do or do is it photoshop or illustrator i need to work on and concentrate on??

    Hey Vinod..

Good question that is always asked or thought by a starter or an intermediate designer.
Basically your answer is in the questions it self!

USE BOTH! Photoshop and Illustrator are both key tools of a graphic designers, need to use both. Photoshop has many Filters that needs to be used and Illustrator for vectors, as vector images can be scaled to any size and could be used for print usage as well.

    regards
    Bob

llustrator is aimed at logo creation, headings, cover design using drawing tools. You can place photoshop tif and eps files within an illustrator file but you have little editing ability of the photoshop images themselves unless you open them back up in photoshop. Photoshop images placed in illustrator files are often used as templates to recreate a vector artwork.

Photoshop on the other hand is an image editing program and is used for individual or montage image editing in preparation for magazines or newspapers. Its also used in conjunction with high end scanners such Scitex and heidleberg scanners, as well editing your regular digital imaging pictures.
