A wordpress is one big name in it.WordPress has a long way since It was first released in May 2003 by its co-founders Matt Mullenweg. Its un-doubtedly the No1. Blogging platform, But How would someone keep on improving when you dont have competetion.

Yes Honey ! Competetion is everywhere, Even WordPress has to face it by some very decent Impressive Opensource Blogging scripts. They are not bad an many have started to consider it over wordpress as well, I have mentioned 4 noticable players in this arena of Blogging scripts


Movable Type:
Movable Type is a weblog publishing system developed by the company Six Apart. It was publicly announced on 3 September 2001
Must say theming is very good and hence the look and feel too.

Textpattern is an open source content management system originally developed by Dean Allen. While it is often listed among weblogging tools, its aim is to be a high-quality general-purpose content management system suitable for deployment in many contexts. Textpattern is written in PHP using a MySQL database backend. The current stable version is Textpattern 4.2.0 ( as on Dec 7th 2009 )

An integrated file management system which allows files to be offered for download.
Separation of content from presentation with a concept of “sections” defined for presentation and “categories” for content organization.

    For me, WordPress really top the blogging market because it is the blogging platform that really boost among those blogging platforms in the past and this is due to its cool features and lot of plug-ins available that can make a blog more ease to manage and improve.

    I also use the sgblog at simplegram.com it’s very easy to use.
